    Leaf Spring Query............

I've just got my leaf springs back from being refurbished, but the left and right tags have gone so I'm not sure now which is which

Can one tell by the numbers on the third leaf which is the left ?? which is the right ??

One number ends in 7 the other in 8, the handbook says they shouldn't be mixed up.

The RHS springs will have higher free camber (more curve). Other than that, LR springs have the same rate side-side and are symmetrical wrt the centre pin.

They've re-tempered the springs and have added 20mm height to each spring, should I now assume they are both the same ??

If I lean on them, one seems to give more than the other, should I assume this is the left one ?? If not I'll have to fit them and see what happens.

If they have reset them to the same height then they have done them incorrectly.

    Here are the original specs:

Free camber is the measurement you want. It is measured between the axle mounting surface and a line which passes through both spring eyes.

I've got the springs fitted and the left side is sitting 10mm higher than the left, so maybe I got them the wrong way round.
I'll test drive the vehicle and then do a re measure, in hindsight I should have put a center line through and measured them.

Free camber must be measured with the spring removed from the vehicle.
