Hi Folks,
Anyone in Adelaide got a Series III with the fuel inlet escutcheon removed so I can trace the hole? Or, the inlet pipe removed so I can trace the hole from the inside? Or has anyone already done this and made a template I could borrow?

just noticed this post and not sure if I follow exactly but i have S3 wagon near Belair National Park which will be dismantled if that is any use for measuring. I was thinking if the rear tank from this would fit in my panel van with the rear filler installed. Anyone tried this? Direct email - think you can do that through here probably best since I don't always have time to check in here.

Thanks Craig- I've sent you a PM re this. For all the others- I now have an aluminium template which can be used to draw an outline of the hole if you are contemplating such an improvement. It is contoured to fit across the "hump" in the side where the filler surround (escutcheon) fits in. After I cut out the hole to the inside of the line it only required a few minutes with a file to get the hole exactly right. Happy to loan this to anyone who needs it- I guess I probably won't need it again!

G'Day Folks,
Thanks for all the advice with this installation. Now on the home stretch. The attached image shows the inlet with the section of exhaust pipe which allows the rubber hose to join onto the tank inlet pipe. I've teed the breather tube across to the one on the other side so the breather (and anti-pollution system) works for both tanks. I've found that a 4mm screw will fit into the threads in the tank- couldn't get any BA screws even from the specialist suppliers. So the next job is fitting the fuel gauge sender. I've decided to fit the tap with a lever-operated micro switch so that when it's switched to auxiliary a small light illuminates on the dash and the gauge is automatically switched to that tank.

Sounds like the job is done with the 4mm and I imagine the threads would be pretty close in those small sizes. But partly to put a good supplier on the thread, did you try Classic Fasteners down off Grange Road. Backyard operation set up for mail order but nice guy who if you contact him doesn't mind you calling by. Haven't seen him for a while or been playing with my brit bikes, but had a pretty good range including BA, but might be something different. Anyway, good place to deal with I have found.
