    G'day Tim,

Thank you for confirming the parts numbers are the same between the 1978 and the 1980 Bosch distributors. I wrote the numbers off my November 1980 Series III and had not had a chance to see if the distributor on my November 1978 had the same numbers. Sometimes things get changed within a small amount of time.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

    Hi All,

For anybody interested, I bought an electronic ignition conversion for the Bosch army 6 cyl distributor. It is a powerspark unit as listed below.

1 x Bosch 6 Cylinder 2 Pcs Left hand points vacuum advance replacement ignition kit (K22) = ?36.95. Postage was minimal and took about 10 days.

To confirm what was required I sent across distributor shaft measurements, points images etc. The coil remains a standard 12v points coil. Simon was very good to deal with.

The unit went in very easily and started on the first crank. It definitely starts easy and idles better, however this is likely to be because ignition points dont handle general deterioration of the distributor very well.

My distributor is not in great condition so this conversion kit probably helps until i have the distributor rebuilt properly. There is a bit of wobble in the shaft vertically and the vac advance is iffy.

    Regards,

    Tim

    Help Where's David

Hello Does David have any contact info please!
Link dosent work and need rebuild upgrade please.
    Thanks in advance.

I have been communicating with David after noticing he sells re-manufactured and electronic converted distributors made by Bosch for early Holden engines. I wrote to David to ask if he will convert my Bosch distributor for the 2.6 litre motor. I sent the product codes off the side of the distributor and the work can be done. I can also have the distributor re-manufactured so the new electronic system will not be working on a tired base - 1978 or even 1980 was quite some time ago now!

Here is the link for the early Holden distributor conversion from there you can get the store contact details or "ask a question" David is very friendly and also very helpful Looking at the shop David also re-manufactures such things as the crab distributors for 1932 Ford V8 Flat Head engines, plus different distributors for other vintage and modern engines, so he must know his stuff!
