    I,ll try post some pics.
I,m going to have a good look for the chassis number tomorrow.
I,m hoping that its ex-military as tracing the old girls history would be a lot simpler. So its fingers crossed there .
Any differences I should be looking for in particular langy?

    No worries CC.
I,ll wait until the DVLA are back from their time off and give them a ring to see if I can find out if the 109 was imported by a private individual or a company and when.

Further research has revealed, the change in series 3 prefixes from

941 to LBCA and such was on 1/4/1980 and the SAL prefix was added 1/1/1982

See, you learn something new everyday. For further reference on series 3's, if you have one of these without the SAL prefix, add it to run through Calvin.

    Cheers

    Superb CC

    I got the following:

    SAL Manufacturer code: Land Rover
LB Model: Series III (for early models: Stage One)
C Wheel base: 109 inch (LW
A Body type: 2-door: Pickup, hood cab, truck cab, or soft/hard top
G Engine type: 2.25 litre diesel (model 10J)
1 Steering and transmission: Right-hand drive (RHD), 4-speed manual (LT95, or other)
A Model year: 1979 to 1987 (All models)
F Assembly location: Completely Knocked Down (CKD), non-UK location
    508101 Serial Number

Thankyou very much for your help.

So its a civvy one up for grabs by the members of the public. Now I just need to find when it landed here in the UK.
I have a lot of conflicting info from the seller and someone who was also interested in her?Is there anyway I can find out when it left Australia?

That's par for the course. Apparently my 2a did everything except invent sliced bread until I had the chassis number in front of me. Then I discovered it wasn't a UK build that was shipped to the colonies. I also discovered it wasn't used at the rocket research station in Woomera - it was meekly delivered to the forestry commission in NSW.

Sellers seem to like to talk up their products - and the story grows with each telling.

He told the other lad that was interested in it that it was a South African vehicle that was driven back from there by his mates Dad and that he was the old girls 3rd owner even though his name wasn,t on the log book!

He also said that he had used it every day since he had it.The rust and algae suggest otherwise
