    disco rims and tyres fit

I've cleaned up a set of disco 1 16 x 7 steel rims and looking at fittng 235/85r16 tyres, as my local dealer recons they will be the same height as the original 7.50 16 tyres. Any one running the same size? will they rub? cheers in advance.

They will probably rub, but the centres can be reversed quite easily and cheaply. I'm personally not a fan of Disco rims, in as much as although the centres are quite strong, the rims are pressed from very thin steel and easily damaged in rough and tumble offroading.Don't know if that is the reason why Camel Trophy Discos were fitted with Defender type rims.
The deeper well of Defender/series rims does make tyre repair in the field a lot easier than the shallow well Disco rims.
    Bill.
