    Hi All,

Sorry for the hijack but where do you recommend getting parabolics from?

I'm looking for a kit including the matched shocks if possible.

IMO if you value offroad ability, stick with standard springs, particularly up front. The only advantage with Paras is a bit of extra ground clearance under the springs. The additional articulation that is claimed is worthless when the axles are flapping about with inadequate tramp control.

I remember my dad doing the same with a s1 but his anvil was a bit of train line

I have done the same on a series its a lot of work and doable if your tight

Rocky mountain paras and pro comp shocke are available here...
    Contact Modern Motors Dungog

With the original spec 3 year old springs fitted the front end was solid...jump on the bumper and almost no deflection.
With the paras fitted I can flex it almost as much as a coil sprung rangie.
If necessary I will twin shock it but the new dampers are very stiff and the ride is 100% better than stock.
Parabolics are the way forward with a series vehicle.
New Rockys are on their way for the back.
I am extending the front spring hangers to sort the clearance issue.

    What Bill said.

IME parabolics have less travel than properly set up semi elliptics. They are actually really stiff - and highly stressed. IMHO the only advantages are less interleaf friction and less chance of rust between the leaves.

A population divided it seems. I'm just looking into paras and shocks at present. Had some on my V8 lightweight with Ex-Mil/LWB shackles back in Scotland and they were great. So much better off road. Although I think that I replaced LWB or HD ones so they would be much better. Not sure what's on my current Series 3 SWB.

I'll probably try the clean, chamfer and paint approach first if they're not HD and see how that suits me.

Regarding that spring eye issue on the front mount.
Mine is exactly the same with the Rocky Mountain para's.

Their instructions say to loosen the spring clamp at the u-bolts and hammer the top leaf back.

I have to do this in the near future...

Unbelievable that they sell something with a known fitting problem

Just fitted the new Rocky mountains and shocks to the back...no fitting issues apart from banging me head a few times!
Instant transformation , potholes are now a joy instead of causing the windows to fall our (honetly...new baily channels are next to be fitted!)
Drove it up an 18" stump all wheels still on the ground and still had more flex to go.
    Highly recomended to anyone
As I sourced my front set (second hand but never used) for $200
and my new RM rears for $500 delivered I am only $700 down and now have a plush ride heaps of flex

Its funny how much variation there is in peoples experiences with these things.

Personally I feel mine were a waste of money.
A small improvement for a lot of headaches and hassles.

I think I would have had similar improvement without the hassle if I had just bought new, stock springs.
