    six cylinder

hi guys came back from easter trip. during the trip i changed leads and spark plugs to clear missfire. The landy now works better but when laboured especially at low little open throttle the vehicle kind of bunny hops. etc. when coasting there is a slight popping sound from the exhaust. The vehicle stood for about four to six years. Ive put about 200 litres of fuel through it hoping its just residue from old fuel. However the six cylinder landy still kinda missfires..... any ideas fellas? checked timing its about 5btc. hmm perhaps strongberg carby needs cleaning? what cound affect low rpm part throttle performance

Valves not sealing, particularly number 6 exhaust valve if it is a LR 6 cylinder.

Not all the CDI Stromberg carbs on Rover 6 had variable main jets. But yes Rover 6 cyl were fitted with CDI Stromberg or SU carbs.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    six cylinder

hi guys thanks for the replies.

Yes its a rover six. I might change capacitor first then coil. My rev meter is connected to the coil and it flickers. I thought it might be valves not sealing but the vehicle has power!!! torque not bad too seeing i lost second gear and i had to travel between licola and heyfield and yeah it pulled up the hills in third missfiring sometimes!!! Im putting a turbo on it! what do you guys reckon! hahahah i hope im not the first bloke thats thought about putting one on! thanks for the replies. ill take some photos of turbo and intercooler if i ever put one on! cheers

    regards matt
