Reverse Switch Wiring..........
Following on from the other thread about the reverse switch location, I thought I'd try and track down the fault on mine as the reverse lights don't work.
Can somebody explain in simple terms how it's wired up and works
The wire from the switch enters the chassis but I cannot find where it comes out, nor can I find any trace of it in the engine bay. I don't think it's been cut as I cannot pull it backwards.
Is there a simple test I can do with a length of wire to test it ?? I've looked on my cd manual but can find no info about it.

One wire is power supply, the other runs off to the rear lights. Your reverse switch is just that, a switch that has a little button that gets pushed in by the reverse lever to complete the circuit. I would start by connecting the
wires connected to the reverse switch together directly to bypass the reverse switch. If your lights work with that direct connection I'd say it's a faulty switch(that was My
Problem) you could also try running a temporary wire straight from the battery and connecting that to the reverse switch or the wire that runs off to the lights. I did this and played around with different combinations until the lights came on, then I worked out what the weak link was and fixed it.
Hope this is helpful.

Hi Andy,
I've tried a direct link to the battery from the switch wire and the lights work fine, so I think it must be a faulty switch or the power to the cable is getting no power.

Ok that's a good start. You could plug that wire from the battery into the reverse switch, so you know the switch has power. Then see if the switch works as it should. If the lights don't work then it's your switch. The theory is you know 100% that you had power supplied to it and that from your last test that there's nothing wrong with the lights or the wire to the lights. If the reverse switch isn't faulty then the next thing is the power supplied to the switch.
