    Unhappy Series windows mmmm

Well first up not sure were to post as George is a bit of every thing. That old malady Landy-itis is slowly taking hold. Resisted for some time but have weakend and began to, in a small way, restore old Geroge. Had awhile ago got some bailey channel to replace the old ones in the doors. Have some time now, so unbolted the drivers door top, removed the glass and then found the bottom of the door top is rusted out. So will now have to replace the bottom section. Like most things I start they begin small and easy enough and then evolve into a production bigger than ben hur.

I would suggest that you look at some "Rocky Mountain" aliminuim door tops

PM Incisor as he has them on his SWB Series2 and he should be able to tell you from who and $ it would be a lot less hassle that fixing rusty ones.

    cheers

If you can afford it, then you would be better off getting new door tops, even though my company suppliers OEM Spec ones, I thought I would save some money and do the bailey channel on mine, what a fiddly job that was, the ones we sell, come complete with the channel in, or new glass if you like.

Or you could for the Rockeys very nice but very expensive. Or the ones the MOD use come up from time to time at decent prices.

the rocky mountain door tops transform the vehicle in my humble opinion.

makes the door assembly more rigid and the front and back glass moving makes it so much better at getting air where you want it when you want it.

    love em...

i have used the wolf door tops but they aren't anywhere near as good imho.

but they are dearer than other options... worth it but

I don't know if this is of any help, but I had to replace all the bailey channels on my vehicle. Noticed that there was a fair bit of rust on the bottom of the door tops, so I had a mate make some channels out of 'gal' and inserted them into the bottoms of the door tops, after 'flooding' it with Penetrol. It's probably a bit rough but it seems to have worked and it passed for rego. I also used a bit of fibreglass to repair some of the other areas of rust. I'm not very good with fibreglassing but once again it saved me getting new door tops for the moment.
