Heres a few pictures of tropical Roofs, I would say all these would have been for Export, not something you find much of in the UK. I would think it was on the options list here.

Just noticed the last picture of the Series 3 HCPU, V8, now that must have been Export. It was never a Uk option...
I didn't realise they were rare, My IIA came with a tropical roof when I bought it but I took it off and it's at my old house (I think) If I knew I'd have kept it.:(
they are LHD maybe they went to africa
So Juddy, are you suggesting that the UK isn't tropical?
Oh, yes that's right, I was there in May 1989 when they were having a heat wave and old grannies died of heat stroke. I seem to recall the temp hit 29 degrees C.
Maybe they do need tropical roofs in the UK!
Diana ;)
Thanks juddy great pics
Hello from Brisbane.
I got the spacers etc from Dunsfold LR in the UK - they seem to have plenty in stock.
For what it's worth - the Plaque Locust Commission had tropical roofs on their 109s back in the 70s and I think they were fibreglass units that were locally made in Brisbane rather than ex-Rover UK.
Cheers,
A fibreglass option would potentially be much more durable in terms of dings.
Cheap to make also.
depends how fussy you are but I think you coudl knock a tropical roof up fairly easy
