    Front doors

Im in the search for some series front doors. Question is, which is better, SIIA or SIII?

what are the differences? Any strength or design that makes one better? What are "anti-burst"?

These will be for a custom project that uses a defender bulkhead.

    cheers

Series 3 doors have the right hinges, usually have door locks too. I think they are the same design otherwise.

Series 2/2a doors have the sliding bit of the door check on the bulkhead, Series 3 has it on the doors.

Series 2/2a door locks have the lock cylinder integral with the outside handle, Series 3 have it mounted on the lock body, and with a separate hole in the door skin.

Antiburst locks were fitted to meet ADRs about 1978? and are, with their striker plates, a bolt-on replacement for the earlier locks on either door. Both lock types are available.

Hinges are interchangeable on either door type, Series 3 is the same as current Defender.

Door tops are the same except for the window lock, which is a plastic slider on Series 3, and a push and twist knob at the top on 2/2a. Series 2 has BSF threads, 2a/3 has UNF. Door tops are fully interchangeable.

Structurally there is no difference in the doors.

"Structurally there is no difference in the doors".

Ah not too fast there Tiger....

The Military ones are manufactured from a thicker grade material, we sell both types.

But as said everything else is the same, unless you of course want the galvanised.

Juddy, I was wondering of that was you on ebay the other night. Nice products but probably a bit spendy for me atm after my annual engine rebuild and the fact I will be cutting the doors up to modify them. I actually need 2 right and 2 left front doors........

Id like to have a go on something not so nice incase I make a ballsup of it.

    cheers
