    Lionel,

Hello again from Harare - another warm day in the tropics.

Well, today's safari went particularly well I am happy to report.

Trekked out to the edge of town with the native companion to another Land Rover graveyard which was located amongst a veritable cottage industry of car wrecking, motorbike repairs, scrap metal depots and what looked remarkably like a house of ill-repute.

We soon got downwind of an extremely well travelled S3-Defender hybrid with an ailing diesel 2.5litre and went in for the kill. So, now proudly looking at the sought after filter adaptor ready for mounting when I get back home. USD50 was a pretty good deal compared to the outrageous asking price for a new one from the UK or USA.

Bonus was further inquiring of the patron whether he knew of any Zimbabwe AA badges frequenting the locality - in response to which a prime example bearing the now relatively rare Rhodesia label was flushed out. Came off a Series 1 that had seen much better days in the bundu, but will take its place on the workshop wall with the rest of the collection.

So, there you have it another successful day in Land Rover heaven.

    Cheers,

    Hello S3Ute,

Good to read that you have bagged your mark and have some trophies as mementoes of your exploits! Also that no animals were harmed in the process - well maybe a spider web or two .

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

    Back for more...

    Hello again from Brisbane.

Just got my new passport back with a freshly minted Zimbabwe entry visa proudly displayed on page 1.

Off next week to see if the Mad Bob and his mates are going for a hat trick after a complete block out last July and a partial ban in October.

A colleague asked why Africa? To be honest I was initially pushed a bit for an answer until another colleague from Bulawayo sent me a few reminders:

    And a favourite:

Hopefully, there will a Series 3 or two in the picture after the trip.

    Cheers
