G'day PJFH,
Perhaps these blokes could help you out since they would have more local knowledge of what is available in the USA - Land Rover club United States of America (US)
Kind Regards
Lionel
Hi, I am new here and to land rovers, I have a 1980 series 3, 109 station wagon that has a perkins 4.209 in it. I would like to put a perkins 4.108 into it but I don't know if it will fit? does anyone have any thought's on this? the perkins engine is very expensive here in the US and the 4.108 is the cheapest one that I have found.

I have tried these guys and I have gotten no answer. Have you ever seen, or heard of putting a perkins 4.108 into a land rover?
Maybe try one of the UK Land Rover forums.

I had a 4-108 in a yacht once. It is pretty small. The 2 1/4 Land Rover diesel is better.
The Perkins 4 182 is/was a common conversion here and in the UK. Kits are available. The engines are made by Mazda and came here in the E or T 3000. I think its called HA or something. Forgotton now but I put one in a Range Rover and liked it even though it was not a powerhouse either.

I used to own a Dormobile in the uk that had a perkins diesel fittedIt used to eat gearboxes for lunch and sounded like a tractor
Needless to say I sold it.
