Recently I changed the wheel bearings on my series three 109. After driving around town for a little while I noticed that there appeared to be oil leaking from the rear passenger side wheels. I took the half shaft and flange off and noticed that all the bearing grease had gone and appeared to have been chewed up by the diff oil which was pouring out when I removed the half shaft.
Can anyone tell what the cause of this may be please. Is it that the bearings themselves have loosened or is something else? I have some photos of the drivers side bearings and they still are packed with grease, but the other side nothing. I neglected to take photos of the offending side, but the photos should give you an idea of what I mean.
