Supercharging 5 bearing Petrol with Toyota SC14

Ok the plan is to Supercharging 5 bearing 2.25L Petrol with a Toyota SC14.

Thinking about 4-6psi boost... it currently has a 8:1 head on it with extractors.

    Can/should it be done?

    Thanks

The SC14 isn't the greatest S/C invented. Their age now would almost make it a mandatory rebuild and the oil for them by memory is just like toyota coolant. Specific and expensive (genuine only).

Can get rebuilt one for around $500. Runs the same oil as the supercharger for my Camry.

Regardless. Any other supercharger that will suit the job.
Also needs to be good at producing low end boost.
Hence the choice of the sc14.
They are supposed to be very good at that.

I can't see why not, surface area vs 4age of big ends and mains should be ok plus its bigger, heavier etc.

Should be OK and it has been done before. It might be safer to fit the low compression head,

    Why Not?

See if you can get a copy of Allan Allard's book about turbocharging and supercharging - I found one on the net for 5 pounds. It was written in the '80's and therefore is applicable to our age of cars, because he started fooling around with blowers in the 1950's.

Does a Ford Anglia; Austin 7; and Mini sound like cars, which might not be strong enough for a blower? Well they are all in Allard's book, but you really need to read it to understand what can and cannot be done.

I read about a supercharger in a S1 in LRO magazine once, where the 2.25 litre engine had an Eaton supercharger from a modern Mini in it,

I think a supercharger would be an excellent modification!

ok... besides the SC14 from toyota. what would be a good supercharger for the old landy 2.25?

something that is good at making low end boost. so to keep a nice good low end grunt for off roading..

My brother has a supercharged series 2a running the blower off the supercharged mini cooper. He had pulleys for both the charger and the crank custom made. I will try and get some pictures.
