There was a Land Rover factory until the early 2000s, just like there was a Land Rover factory in Sydney untill the 1990s.
Does it have an instruction plate like this?

Hey guys just bought my first series 111 today very happy with my purchase she runs like a dream. Picked her up this morning and drove her 450 km home (sorry to anyone on the midland highway today stuck behind someone doing 80 in a 110 zone) she was a little noisy in second and decelerating think it could be a crook thrust bearing, also a bit of a clunk clunk clunk when coming to a stop feels like wind up? Anyway just wondering if anyone could shed some light on what it is, it has a small badge on the side that said Leyland Suid Afrika and a quite unique fibreglass hard top which I've never seen, and a bench seat in the front. She's never had a resto and plan to leave her as is. A few bumps and scratches but I like em.
Will post some photos tomorrow in the light

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.
The clunk-clunk coming to a stop may be because it is stuck in four wheel drive, but more likely is that the handbrake is dragging, either due to incorrect (or seized) adjustment or, more likely, oil from a leaking rear seal. May be adjusted too tight to try and make it work with oily shoes.

Thanks JD forgot to mention it has free wheeling hubs they were in the lock position when I picked it up but I unlocked it before setting off. That's why I was puzzled on centre diff wind up.

I'm thinking that too, my 2 door used to do the same thing. I'm going to pull the floor and seats out then it's going to my mechanics for open heart surgery on the box and transfer case I can't live with the noise coming out of her I want it right. I know nothing about gear boxes.
My SIIB came from South Africa via Tas, I had to acquire an SA name plate from Joh'burg because the original was removed either in Vic or Tas.
Just on a point of accuracy, the SIII has a dog clutch arrangement to select 4WD, the centre diff are only a function of constant 4WD vehicles like the Range Rover, Disco and Defender.
Have you pulled the hi low range lever into low whilst pulling up on the yellow button? You sometimes have to do this quite hard to get everything to operate when the mechanism is sticky.
