i will be putting it all on the series chassis, probably be easier to get it on the road, and i will try and find a defender 5speed to go with it but if i cant i will use the series 4 speed

sorry i haven't updated but things didnt go as plan, i had to move out of my shed and my landlord at the shed stole the military from me and i don't have a shed now so now i have to do the conversion at home on my chassis. i dont have room at home for the military so i thought ill just let that ***** have it and it also saves me tow truck fees so im not complaining. anyway as soon as i buy a hilux to get around in ill retire the old 186 motor from the landy and start the conversion.

my chassis is in very good condition as it looks like at was repaired before from all the rust so atleast i dont have to worry about rust repairs on the chassis

i found a run around ute '81 LN40 Hilux diesel 2wd in mint and original condition so i have a car to carry parts around and cheap on fuel. the land lord of the house im living in cleared his **** out of the shed so i have the landy in it now and starting to pull it apart. Once i get my ute rwc and rego i will start spending some time and money on the landy, i should have the ute rego this friday

just befor i took the landy off the road i rebuilt the carbie and converted it to an electronic dizzy which i had a mate rebuild

still has the original AM radio in it

the only things ive done to the Hilux is convert it to disc brakes at front and put on brand new rotors and pads, fit the sunvisor that i found at the local dump, and gave it a good clean up and a service then replaced the windscreen

the lux is rego'ed now, and i might be moving out so i brang the rover to the front driveway so when i take the motor out i don't have to push it at the front for the tow truck.

also i have more room so im ripping the cab apart now and the wings off to remove the motor and fit the 200tdi in. Now that i have a work ute im going to make this into a style side ute because i wont be carrying any more stuff around in it. my mate has a 2A style side that he is gonna give me and has a rebuilt gearbox as well so im gonna rip the tub off that and i might use the box too as i wont be able to afford a defender box because my of recent job loss, but i have the parts so im gonna do what i can and start fixing the rust and painting the interior. so it gives me something to do while i look for another job

the motor should be coming out soon and the roof will be off tomorrow and hopefully on monday i can take the diesel out of the disco

so it will be like this. not too many styleside utes going around

got into it today, and most of the bolts came out ok except for the floor pan, the flat head type screws are a bitch to get out with out rounding off the head so probably have to drill most of them out

she's pretty good with rust, only abit of surfest rust and a few minor holes

the bellhousing panel will need replacing

removing the dash today and will hopefully get the rest of the cab apart today, im impressed with the bulkhead, its pretty good besides the lower middle where it covers the bellhousing but repairable.

I love these things there is nothing to them, and everything is replaceable

i was going to replace the bulkhead with a series 2 so i can have the metal dash but it might make it harder to register

 keeping everything organized

and was thinking of what colour to go with and by the looks of it it was yellow originally so i think ill repray it yellow

also i was thinking, if im going to go with a style side tub, then i should be able to put a wagon roof on it and make it like a troopy, good for camping, so if i want i can have it as a ute one week and then i can have it as a 2 dr wagon another
