    Speedo Error...correction

Is there a speedo drive available for the series gearbox that suits 3.54 diff centres so that the speedo will read correctly? Did the V8 Land Rovers use a series gearbox and 3.54 diffs?

    Cheers, Mick.

Sorry I don't know mick, BUT I did read on here that people were correcting them in a few ways... the one I thought was pretty good was a digital speedo. They replaced the speedo in the dash, and attached a sensor on the propshaft i think... could be calibrated whenever you liked easily. So if you changed tyre size you could just recalibrate and off you went.

might be worth a search around the site.

The V8 stage 1 runs an LT95 gearbox - like the early Rangies and the 101. I'm not sure, but I doubt the speedo drive is the same a series box.

    Speedos are fixed

    Hello from Brisbane.

Can't give the definitive answer to the specific question, but as a rule the Series speedometers that are fitted to a particular truck are calibrated to a particular set of tyre sizes - three different speedometer units were used I believe. In my case, changing from 6.00 X 16" to 7.50 X 16" tyres on the 88" required swapping a speedometer head over from a 109" truck.

Whether there is a speedometer head suited to that diff combination I am not sure. Others might know.

    Cheers,
