    Best Supplier Dashboard Vinyl?

    Hi All

Can anyone steer me into the direction of who I should approach to purchase vinyl to replace my old cracked dashboard vinyl? ... I am on the Gold Coast

    Thanks

    G'day Craig,

I got my vinyl from Spotlight. Cracks repaired with foam filler and sanded down. Vinyl glued on with contact cement. I was happy with the final result of the dash repair but don't know how it will stand the test of time.

    Regards,

    Marty.

I would have thought that vinyl from places like Spotlight would be "house" grade and no UV stable. Automotive and Marine grade vinyl has a much higher level of UV stability.

I have always been able to get automotive grade at auto trimmers - some are better than others.

Yeah, I'm a bit worried about the UV factor. I'll try to keep up a coating of some dash vinyl protector stuff and see how it goes.

    The carpet alternative

If you're prepared to stray away from the factory look vinyl, stores like Bunnings offer automotive carpet that goes well over the dash. I covered mine over and trimmed it to the edges, with tec screws holding it at the base. All up it took me less than 2 hours and $20.

I took a section of my vinyl to an auto trimmer who matched it perfectly, he charged me $10 for a piece big enough to do the job
