The actual VIC rules say you need engineering at 20% power increase or above.

Well, there you go. When I said 150% - I meant 50% above factory, but this seems to have changed from the hard copy I have here - that is 5 years old though I think.

Bastards are tightening things up. Still, I doubt EFI would get me beyond that, but with the head work, exhaust and EFI I might....

May have to leave the EFI until after registration in case they quiz it....

Geez, I better read through that whole document I think...

    Cheers.

I recon your best bet is to adapt a Camira 1.8 TBI system, cylinder volumes are similar and you need only fire it 50% more often to get enough fuel, ie use a 6 cylinder trigger electronic dissy/trigger. And to whet your appetite here's a link to a Camira TBI on a 4 cylinder Landy.

Wow, that's one interesting jigsaw puzzle you have there Cookey.

Is that a one off or are you offering extractors for sale?

How's the latest version of the disk brake kit coming along? I'm ready to order when you have one ready.

    Cheers - Gav.

    A little progress.....

quite a challenge to fit ideal lengths into available space......
complicated by my desire to make the extractors compatible with a front mounted PTO driven winch. Unfortunately the pipes cannot go down between the engine and chassis, as the winch drive shaft completely blocks this area.

    A little more progress.......
this is only the "prototype" version. When I am happy with the result the whole lot will be disassembled and each individual pipe (made up of various sections at the moment) will be formed in one continuous piece. They will then be reassembled and fully welded into the completed article.
    The (6) primary pipes are 300mm (12") long and 1 1/4" ID
    The (2) secondary pipes are 710mm (28") long and 1 3/4" ID
The (1) tail pipe is 2 1/4" ID and will mate up with the original system.
The requirement to accommodate models fitted with a front mounted PTO driven winch dictate that the system be built in 3 separate pieces and they join together under the wheel arch. The big challenge has been to get all the pipes the same length and to join into one at the right place.
I am happy with the result so far. A few more progress photos below.

That looks awesome. Are you going to offer these for sale? If so, do you have a ballpark figure? It would be a safe bet to put me down for a set.

I'll make at least 5 sets to start with. At the moment I'm waiting for a mate to donate some C channel to make up some assembly jigs. Hopefully I'll collect them next week. Once the (3) jigs are made then I will have 5 sets of all the individual pipes bent up and I can start assembling. Seriously thinking of having them ceramic coated. Although it works out rather expensive they will look absolutely awesome.
In the mean time I found a few spare hours this week and decided to have a good look at the inlet valves and guides. The guides and seals are an ongoing problem, a very old design that allows lots of oil to enter the combustion chamber even when new. The seals are a PITA to change, as they are "O" rings situated down inside the guide, and if the valve is removed for any reason "o" ring must be replaced. So I decided to modify the guide and fit latest technology stem seals.

While looking at the inlet valves I decided that they could be somewhat improved to aid gas flow so I set about making a set of rimflow valves

Photos show a modified valve compared to a standard valve. Here is the finished valve and guide.

I don't have a cost analysis on the extractors as yet but estimate $500-$600 before powder coating.
