Won't get a chance to lay a hand on it until the new year unfortunately. As soon as I'm done at work next Friday I'm off down the beach for 2 weeks. [emoji106]

Gav, looks like you are on a winner with that pickup, that good old 186 banger will go forever.
Drop a crow torque cam in it while it's apart, or even a cam from an EFI (Black) six, they are much the same. ;)
The Cabstar five speed conversion pushes the motor forward by several inches, so i wonder if there is any need for mods to be done to the front of engine bay ie crossmember, radiator support panel etc. I know there is a four inch gain with a six cylinder engine bay, but i wonder if it's enough. Did you get to check out the engine bay of the vehicle it came out of? Rod (67Hardtop) might be able to help with the answer.
I may have some of the fitting instructions here for the Marks Conversion, i will check later.
Cheers, Mick.
Just did a bit more delving Gav and that station wagon the conversion was in, was originally a six cylinder.
It has the front cross member modified similar to when a Holden six is fitted into a four cylinder Landy.
Apparently the 5 speed Cabstar boxes were longer than the four speeds, so a 4 speed conversion going into
a six cylinder 109 didn't require the front modifications, but a 5 speed did.
Cheers, Mick.
Yup, my cabstar and 186 is in my originally 6cyl, s3 109 and the front x member is cut like they did to 4 cyl to accomodate the radiator. The extra length is in the box. The gearbox is about 4 or so inches longer in the front so the motor sits closer to the front. I spose if a cabstar was fitted to an 88" it would fit better with a starfire in front of it, hey Mick??
Thanks guys. Yes the donor vehicle did have the front cross member modified. No biggy to do this, the vehicle will be getting fully engineered anyway. 👍
Well better late than never, this project is back on the move. Number 1 Son came around tonight and we started sanding the firewall in prep for paint. He’s going to come over 1 or 2 nights a week. I’m going to put up a temporary carport so there’s a little bit of cover for it - would have helped tonight as it started raining... Got some etch primer on the bare metal before that started though. 👍
Will post pics when there’s something to look at. 😁
Wow - I have been eagerly awaiting an update on this! It’s only been 10 months - anybody would think that you have been busy helping other people on their projects! [emoji6]
Can’t wait for further updates!
Yeah, you know, no other projects going on so I need something to do. 👍
It will be good to get stuck back into it. 👍
Tractor, railway, 101, Series 3, motorbike, Classic, Jag, 2 Door, farm, family, friends, career... Come to think of it - you need more projects! Lol
(I don’t know how you fit it all in!)
It’s easy - don’t watch TV and don’t sleep much, simple. 👍. Been working on the train set tonight - just sat down for the first time today. I’ll be in bed within an hour or 2 but I need to be on the road before 6 tomorrow, so up before 5. 😊
