Hi all
I have started my restoration project by dismantling the rear diff on my 88" ute. The differential casing is showing wear, where the differential pininion Bears against it. Is this going to be a problem? Can it be shimmed, or if I need to source another casing are other parts matched to it?
Cheers

I am not sure what you are asking.
Maybe review this image to correct your terminology and ask your question again.

Sorry my manuals call them differently, but it is where the "spider gear" bears against the differential casing. There does not appear to be a spider washer as shown in you diagram and neither does my Haynes manual show this. This is a Rover type diff and not a Salisbury one.
Yes it seems the rover diff only has thrust washers under the side gears, not the spider gears. If they have worn into the casing it means someone has been spinning wheels. If the backlash is out of spec you could see if lt230 spider gear thrust washers will fit.
First, get rid of your Haynes....
The pictures didn't come up properly on my phone but some wearing on the center is normal where he gears run.
More important I'd to check the elongation of the cross pin holes and the cross pin.
