I would fit a Zenith, which is what the vehicle originally would have had. You will need the adapter that goes under it.

Legally you should fit the crankcase ventilation system used in 1977 that connects to this adapter, rather than the open breathers on the 1960 motor. But it is unlikely this would be picked up, and you may want to simply blank the opening.

My view is that as far as performance goes, there is little if anything to choose between the carburettors fitted to this engine, but the Solex seems harder to get parts for, and its operation is more difficult to understand than the Zenith. The Weber fitted later has little to recommend it over the Zenith in my view, but could be used if easier to find.

Yeah get a Zenith, they just work.

I have been running one of the pattern/copy models that I bought through Gary at CLR, ive had it for 6 years now and never had an issue with it.

They cost about $250 although I dont think Gary is around anymore? (I heard he was very sick and/or died)
