As far as I know the only legal issue is if the hard top/ cab incorporates the seat belt shoulder mount.

Hello from Brisbane.

Your truck looks to be a close twin to mine which (noting John's point) has three point retractable seat belts. The top mounting points are incorporated in the sides of the back panel of the cab and must be retained somewhere legal when the roof is off. Getting that sorted can be a bit of a grief-prone exercise as you can't simply drill holes into the panel behind the seats.

Not wanting to be a glass half-empty type, one downside to regular removal of the roof is the likelihood of having it leak even more than is common on the tin top trucks. Bit of a summer-winter trade off.

Install lap belts in it for summer. As long as they are ADR approved, should be fine. The auto accessory places should be able to get some.

What year is it? Month and year?

Hi Mick,
The car is a 1974 Series III CKD model. The seat belts are already plugged in the back of the seats so there is no harm in removing the canopy.
I am pretty lucky in regards of leakages, the car is parked slightly uphill so no water can get in from the back of the cabin (for now)!
And you know what? I have also found the car more comfortable and quieter to drive! It rattles less and drives much more smoother....the darkness of land rovers and we will never know why!

I have not driven the car for the past two weeks and now I think I have a problem with the clutch...3/4 of the pedal ride is soft as butter and the last quarter hard as rock (but it engages the gears)... I may have broken a spring in the clutch disc or there is a leak in the clutch system or the piston is gone...anyway a trip to the mechanic is in order.

Bob is much quieter and goes up hills better with no roof ��.Mine is a 76 and was imported from Africa in 79 also my roof is fibreglass so my seat belts are mounted to the wall behind the seat must have been ok cause it's registered and roadworthy. Can post a pick of the mounts if anyone would like?
