understood. Thanks again for all your hard work.

If I offer the bottom of the bracket up to the back of the door and have that bottom angle flush to it - it wont work because the top of the bracket starts to meet the curve of the cab. If I have it say 5mm + off ie not flush, It might work, if I use one of the cab roof bolts which would otherwise be in the way. Perhaps I'm being too fussy expecting it to be flush - or its not for the truck cab. (I know that site suggests otherwise). I might fiddle with it tomorrow - but I'm concerned if the bottom isn't flush and I tighten up the bolt - its going to pull the panel.

Otherwise - I like your suggestion of the DIY bracket which I think I prefer anyway as it deals with the retractable mechanism + the shoulder top bracket all in one.

I'll post up some photo's after tea.
    cheers,

ok - first up the pic shows the bracket flush at the bottom - so the angles wrong at the top.
Second pic - providing I can use one of the cab roof bolts at the top , I cant get the bottom angle flush - its out at least 5mm + (difficult to measure).
    cheers,

    Hello D,

Is there a way where you could use two long bolts and use at least two nuts either side of a length of steel tubing packed with washers top & bottom; or just a lot of washers locked off with nuts top & bottom, so that the top the bracket is horizontal with the roof guttering? Then finish it off with a dome acorn nut with nylon so it does not come undone or jab into you.

By the way I can only see your second photograph. The first is just the text for the link and when I click on it I get logged off.

    kind Regards

yeah - there's a few ways of getting around it I think - but as its safety first - I want to do it by the book. If there's a properly engineered piece out there - that's what I want. If not - I'll have to make do the best I can. I'm suspicious of things that don't fit quite right!

The picture issue pees me off no end. No one seems to be interested. I'll let you know how I get on.

After I get home next week I'll try and get you a picture of the setup on my 2a if you still want it. It is lifted complete with the cab from a 1981 S3.

I still think the anchorages for the front seats of a 110 wagon (or even a SIII 109) would be easier.

Make sure that you have the angle bracket secured to the gal capping and the cab just behind the door, otherwise there is very little holding the cab roof on and your secured to that.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

    Hello D,

I checked a number of parts supplier's websites and they all say that it is "suitable for Series 2A and Series 3"

If there is a gap between the top of the bracket where the two bolt holes are then maybe it requires another bracket that goes in-between the roof channel and the top of the bracket?

    For example:

    PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

RH UPPER SEAT BELT ANCHOR BRACKET.
LAND ROVER DEFENDER RH UPPER SEAT BELT ANCHOR BRACKET. PART- ADU710100 | eBay
    COMPATIBILITY

LAND ROVER DEFENDER 90/110/130 HARD TOP EXCEPT ST/ WAG

LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER SERIES 2/2A/3 WHEN FITTED

    PART NUMBER

    ADU710100

    G'day Dark61,

I have sent a couple of emails off to different parts suppliers in England to find out whether there is another bracket that joins up to ADU710100 Inertia Seat Belt Mounting Bracket Right Hand.

I will let you know what responses I get.

I cannot find any mentions of other parts doing the job other than ADU710100.

    Kind Regards
    Lionel
