I see its fitted with stage 3 brakes (3 besser blocks)
looks nice, well done!
when you need a front bumper see if a puma one will fit, (or can be adapted)
people who buy and fit a bull bar don't need them anymore... may get one very cheap/free!!
Hi All,
Have finally taken delivery of my 1981 Series 3 Stage One. The car was up on eBay a while ago and now sits with me. Always wanted a landrover, but as a diehard datsun fanatic (240z,260z) it never left any funds for one. Now with 3 kids and a sense of adventure we decided it was the right time to get a landrover.
The name FRED came from my 3 year old son who also calls it the Monster Truck and wants to run over everyone!
The Landrover has had a lot of reco work done on it so far, with much of the suspension and brakes already refreshed.
Here is a basic list of Specs.
+ 1981 SIII Stage One (10 seater)
+ 4.4L P76 overbored motor - Rebuilt with 1000ks on it
+ Billet intake manifold adapters to run efi
+ ICE Ignition
+ D2 intake manifold
+ LT230 Transfer Case and LT85 box
+ New shocks (unsure of brand)
+ Reco'd steering box
Im sure ive missed some things, overall the car is super clean and complete, chassis is fantastic too. Plan is to get it back together and on the road and then do a "rolling resto".
I am after a few bits and pieces, specifically to start with a loom and ecu to suit the manifold (have injectors) and a fuel rail to suit the D2 manifold.

Thats it digger! Handbrake isnt connected at the moment.
Good to know on the bumper, ive got one but its seen far better days.
Hand brake is a pain all the levers and connections.
grab ether a defender backing plate, just every thing and fit that.
or grab a disco set up and mount the hand brake on the seat box. both are cable set-ups and work well
Looks real good Benny. Welcome to the Stage One Club! It should go well with the 4.4 and being injected. Looking forward to seeing your progress as you get it on the road. Out of interest how much is a StageOne going for these days? I haven't seen many good ones up for sale recently.
Regards Warrick.

Looks like a good solid original vehicle to me, a great basis for the "rolling resto" you speak of.
Love the idea of a 4.4, & some pics of the engine bay & interior would be good.
I'm sure you'll keep us posted, Pickles.
nice looking thing.
I like the 3 year olds attitude. I took one of the grandkids (5 yr old) for a ride on the land at the weekend in Mutley and he wanted me to drive over his younger brothers (3 yr old) sit on plastic truck. Class!
cheers,

Should be a nice project and a nice weapon when finished.
Have fun.
Don't forget to update us in the So, wotcha gonna break this weekend? thread![]()
Noice.
Just for interest, if you're after some kind of originality on the outside. The Stage 1 front bumper is standard Series 3 ie with the hole for the crank handle.
