    Engine Photo ID

    Hello All,

I am more acquainted with the Land Rover 2.6 six cylinder and Red Holden motors than I am with the 2.25 litre petrol Land Rover engine.

Here is a photograph of the engine bay of a vehicle that is for sale. I have only seen the photo.

Is this engine a petrol 2.5 Land Rover motor that someone has fitted a Holden Stromberg carburettor with the Holden air cleaner on?

The rocker cover breather and the oil fill spout and cap look like Land Rover parts

Is this a Land Rover motor?

    Kind Regards
    Lionel

Yep, looks like a 2286cc or commonly known as a two and a quarter.
Looks to be fitted with extractors too!

Certainly looks like a 2.25 - but I wonder where that radiator came from? Certainly not Rover.

The radiator appears to be some type of Toyota radiator but I could be wrong cheers Dennis

I don't think that the engine colour means anything except that someone had some green paint!

For what it is worth, my ex-army 2a came (straight from the army) with a blue engine.

A friend of mine has an ex-army IIa with it's engine painted red. I believe Repco had the rebuild contract at some time. Another friend has an in the box N.O.S. light weight engine painted duck egg blue. Colour doesn't mean much.
