    Gear Lever Knobs

Hi Just wondering how the Series 3 gear lever knob, black one stays in place ????
The lever fitted to Gilbert Is Threaded.
Apart from getting a more expensive, series 2 type, could I just cut off the threaded part and put on the series 3 type.
    Pics would be helpful.
    Thanks

As long as the shaft size is the same it will be OK to cut the threaded section off.

The Series III uses a metal shim/thing (there must be a technical term) shown bottom left in the picture here PSK 1066 - Series 3 Knobs Kit

Once forced on it should stay there but can be removed with force.

Hope this helps. You can see the wavy shim that forms a tight fit.
This is a spare I have.

    Thanks gents.
So the wavy shim sit inside, proud, then is pushed on the lever, in the correct position????
Could you please measure the series 3 shaft, so I can see if its the same diameter as the series 2, threaded one.

    Hi Whitehillbilly,
It is 1/2 inch at the top near the knob.

    Cheers,

Looks like I can cut off the thread, and put on the Rover Parts series 3 one.
    Thanks for the replies.
