    Mounting Gaskets CD175 Stromberg

    Hello All,

Just wondering whether the mounting gaskets for the CD175 Stromberg carburettor are put on dry or if they require some type of gasket glue? If so what type - brand of glue is the best?

    Thanks

I always put a small wipe of gasket sealer around any gasket I put on. I'll probably get a slap for saying that, but there you go.
    cheers,

You could put a sealer but usually dry is good so if you ever have to remove the carby for a clean out the gaskets don't get destroyed. If you do use a sealer don't be too liberal with it and maybe only on one side to avoid damage if ever it has to be removed.
A light smear of grease might also do.
    It's personal choice really.
I have only ever assembled carby gaskets dry.

I always use a smear of grease on both sides.

Check the mounting flange is flat first, if not you need to flatten it (emery paper on a sheet of glass).

As Mick said, dry (or greased) will come off without damage in the future.
