As the series 2 is long term project thought it was time to give Everest the 109 a quick tidy up over the next 6 to 12 months and get it registered
It's in not to bad shape needs usual rear crossmember brake lines etc etc
It does have potential but expecting lots of the usual problems along the way

Well that was easy first time for this to happen
The steering relay came out with few pumps of bottle jack bit of crc and a total of 15 minutes work
Also nice and dry no rust inside relay tube https://www.aulro.com/afvb/images/im...2017/06/82.jpg
I had trouble with plenty of them over the years usually pulls half the tube out and can take weeks I couldn't believe it when it moved straight away
The chassis has finally been wired wheeled revealing a couple more rust spots and chassis bushes have removed
it has come up looking not too bad
now the repairs start

I have one question for the masses thou
I have searched this and cannot find answer the 109 number 3 crossmember ( bellhousing crossmember) has been cut out or replaced in its life
It has been done pretty ruffly and has also rusted
I need to replace it
I have a new no 3 crossmember for my swb chassis and it looks identical to the one that's in there but the parts book lists two 1 for 88 (577414 ) and for 109 (NRC3812)
The one I have is definitely for a 88 (577414)
Does anyone know what the difference is between the two
Hope this makes sense
Thanks
Darren
The chassis rails are deeper on the 109, so this should mean a difference in that cross member, as it supports the gearbox in the same position relative to the top of the chassis rail - but as to what the difference actually is, I can't help. If this is not enough, maybe I can have a look at a couple of chassis later in the day when it is a bit warmer.
oops - duplicate
Thanks jdnsw that make sense your knowledge is fantastic
I have ordered the correct one from the uk now
Looks as though previous owner used one from a swb it came from a farm so would of used whatever was handy
