This build looks familiar. Yellow devil was the paint code on Games. It should have a gal firewall, if it has it is a Game. Are you on FB by chance?

Hello, My name is Orin. I'm a spray painter from the Singleton area in the Hunter Valley. I have been meaning to start a build thread on what will be my first S3 restoration. I have done many cars in the past, But none have been more important then this one. Then plan is to have it done when I'm 40. Well that's what my wife said. I'm not aloud to have it done overnight.
So here is the fine example of CKD built in Australia....
My winnings on ebay! Big Story to this to.
Now all I had to do was get this girl home from Dubbo. Family tow truck business to the rescue.
Home at last and to top it off a pesticide service to get rid of the Bloody big spiders! But, it was worth it for the cossie life that lay ahead in the shed!
now to start the process, I hope you all enjoy.
I always wanted to go the light blue that they came out in. But after removing the dash and finding a couple of loaded bullets. I polished the original paint surface and fell in love with "Yellow Devil" So this is what colour I am going with!
My daily with the resto! LOVE THE GREEN OVAL!!!!!
Currently this is where I'm up to. With the Bulkhead in repair.
With that I'll finish this post with a question..... Who thinks my suspension is a little over rated?????
Thanks for viewing my build!!!!

Best of luck with your resto.
Yes, my Friend. I also liked your page. Small world
This poses a question. No Gal Firewall. I know its not camino gold, to oxide of a colour. I know its not Bahama, to brown. Did they make the yellow devil for general issue S3 CKD's?
Thanks Landy smurf, Be sure to wave mate!
Telecom Australia? Or Department of Civil Aviation? Both of these used Landrovers this colour (or something close).

I think part of the Game firewall was painted silver (not galvanised) but whether this was applied over the yellow I don't know.

As far as I know the firewall on the Game is painted silver originally, it looks galvanised but isn't really. Even with that there are other things that show it is not a Game. It is not a station wagon is the most obvious but all the other things like corner protectors, bull bar, wheels are not there either. So I would say if it was yellow then it might have been Telecom or Civil Aviation as John said.

Thanks everyone for your replies.
I doubt very much its a Game. For many reasons. Also I think JDNSW is on the money. With another AULRO member posting pictures of almost identical S3. I think I'm closer to finding its history.
Well the particulars of this old girl are listed in this pic. I am under the idea that this may have been a Department of civil aviation vehicle. We have Original Body colour rims, signs of a bolted on bull bar. The heavy duty winch, Large long range fuel tank. Signs of auxiliary fuel cell in back. guards that have holes for tools, The spot welded rear view mirror mounts on the window hinged.
This is AULRO member FenianEel's S3. Everything is Identical.
If anyone can help with info. I should have added some arrows. But on the carby on the lower butterfly. there are two arms that are not in the manual. The two arms with the little pins that have the C-clip groves in them.
This weekends efforts so far are removal of inlet/exhaust manifold. that was a mammoth of a job separating.
The starter motor. Simple, but Effective.
Thanks For reading up on my build and most of all the help!
I just purchased a el cheapo carby and adjusted the float. New carby did not come with the needed linkage. I had to fit it and to get enough room I removed a bit.
late model carby are fitted with throttle opener. Its a diapram idea that holds the rpm up a little when decelerating. its controlled by a vacuum valve that bolts on the carb------and goes over the shoulder.
the workshop manual quotes that the jets for these carby are plated differently and not interchange with older carby. My experience with detox engines are they are way out with the mixtures.
