    A series III Frankenstein?

Apologies if the answer to my question can be found via the Search button - I've tried but can't seem to find what I'm looking for.
I've been considering buying a LWB Series 2 for a while now, but it seems there aren't many around, however there are a fair few Series 3's popping up for sale at various times.
I love the classic Landy look of the S2 (S3's are still nice but I prefer the 2). So it got me thinking-
Is it possible (and legal in NSW) to fit S2 front panels to a S3 - ie guards/wings, and grille panel with the headlights. Obviously it would mean the headlights are relocated to the grille panel and slightly obstructed from the side by the guards - which is where I start wondering about the legalities of it all.
Would it just mean I need to buy a pre ADR S3 to get away with it? Or is it completely fine regardless of ADR's?
Cheers, might catch some of you at the Expo in a few weeks
    James

Edition 2 ADRs apply to this vehicle

I can't see any ADRs relating to headlights.

Who would ever know if you did?

Still looks like a bog stock factory Land Rover.

Mick Marsh, I thought the same thing. Can't find any specific rules on headlight locations, at least ones that apply to series landys.

Homestar, just what I was thinking. I've had similar thoughts with modifications on early Holdens - most mechanics, inspectors etc these days have no idea what they had and didn't have from the factory, so I could probably get away with it.

Practicality wise, leaving the headlights on the guards and fitting spotties to the grille panel is a good idea, however the look has never really grown on me personally.

I wouldn't really want a landy that looks like it's been modified, they're one of the few cars that I think don't need any improvement

I was under the impression revised design rules forced a few changes with the S3, including headlight width padded dashes etc. That said, perhaps they were not Australian ones???

What "revised" design rules are you referring to?
    Got a link?

From my general reading, I'm sure you can google up more info if you need.

1969: Headlamps are moved outboard onto the front wings, due to foreign market safety legislation.

I am sure the lights moved out to the guards as they bought a law in late 60s to early 70s about a distance between the the lights , also why Toyota moved theres.

    Thumbs down

I've got either 71 or 74 in my head about new adr's or something, unless I'm getting confused with motorbikes?
Can't seem to find any VSI's or ADR's that really relate to headlight positioning. I remember seeing a diagram with dimensions somewhere, but it may have been for street rods or ICV's?
