    SIIIs I miss the most.

    Thought id share some photos of some SIIIs I once had and now miss !!!!

    83 Stage One , I was its second owner and it was in mint nick . Not even any rub marks inside or out , also came with a new canvas rear hood. A new set of tires , carbie kits x 2 and this ute took me around aust. Notice the tropical / fiberglass sun roof over the truck cab. It made a drone at 110kms and we parted ways just outside Newman on its first trip to Headland. A road trains wind wake almost tore the lid off , so in the bin it went . A weekly check / top up of the oil damped carbies was req and it had a hunger for GL 19 points on long trips.
    Of all the landies I have had , this one I miss the most.

    This 77 SIII SWB I bought while working on a tourist station over the wet season. The station dump had a number off series wrecks so I was able to give the swb a little tlc / rebuild along the way. There were painters working on site in the off season and they tinted some enamel paint that was leftover . So one steamy night I sprayed her in 'desert sand', not a single bug stuck and she looked a treat.
    The stage one was parked up under cover and the swb was my off time runabout. The country was hard on tyres , so I used plenty of runouts + tubes from the dump, always with several spares on rims in the tub. On one particular run home from the Penticost crossing we had 3 blow outs after dark.
    Had plenty fun with this one.

    Ok this ones not a SIII but it rates a mention . A late model SII ex army swb rag top as traded . Got it with 6 month rego for 1200 , some panel dings, been under cover no rust, all implement holders + tac plates and torn hood with sticks. I put a truck cab on it , ran it on the beach all summer then ran out of money and sold it before the rego ran out.
    The cruel thing is , the bloke who bought it bailed on some rent and the land lord sold it to simms for export scrap . My apoliges to the REMLAR crew this one was a real gem.

    9 series land rovers all up , 4 x SIIIs , 3 x SIIs ,1x SIIA and 1 x stage one. Only one was never road reg, worst one a 79 leyland badge'd 109 diesel , no joy from that mistake.

    98 to early 99 I was the resort grounds keeper. The main homestead dump was hard up against the rock hill directly west of the generator sheds. General station junk , several SII / SIIA wrecks all well busted and a bunch of V8 powered swb landcruser bull buggies . I helped local identity Black Pete strip a couple diffs out to keep his swb going.
    Life was so much simpler back then.
