Thread: Heater pipe direction and no tap??

Not being renowned for its efficiency , but I think I'd notice the heater being permanently on on a hot day. You could always stick a tap in the middle of it ala series one? If for some reason you don't want to or cant fit another series 3 tap.
My 74 has the pipe from the tap heading off to the lower of the two heater matrix inlets with the higher going to the back of the engine. Is the existing tap munted?

Thanks for...the tap isn't there. My 2.25 petrol was originally a diesel. The inside far right dash lever is a the choke...not sure if both those levers are heater controls?

The two sliders respectively control the tap and the air vent direction - or so the majority left the factory doing.

The Australian built trucks used a tap that was common to some of the older Falcons/Fairlanes (eg XW) and one of the Valiants (local content) - and these can be sourced through some of the hot rod and restoration places such as Rare Spares. This tap fits on a bracket beside the heater box. The UK trucks had a different tap which can also be found on the usual UK part sites - it is usually fitted to the head. The UK and Australian heater boxes are different as well.

Not sure if the Kiwi trucks are direct UK imports or locally assembled CKD but would guess you probably have the UK set up.

Yes my S3 is CKD assembled in Aussie... I thought when the engine conversion was done that they may have disconnected the heater as they used one of the controls to make a choke cable...so sounds like I was right there.

I'm not too worried about the heater running all the time! I am in the South Island so it either pretty cold, in the middle, or a scorcher. Vents open when hot and the heater fan off off.
