I don't think I can add anything to what everyone else has said - but welcome to AULRO anyway. I agree the cab, if it is grey as it seems to be, will be a later addition. As far as can be determined from a couple of pictures, it would probably easily sell for a $2-4,000. But if you decide to fix it up yourself - have a look at the thread on the real cost of restoration! Despite this, it seems there is no shortage of potential buyers.

    Badges?

    Hello from Brisbane.

Interesting that it seems to be a 1975 of the Leyland era - but doesn't, from my poor viewing of the photos, have the small Leyland badges on the grille panel or half door tops.

I would agree with the general sentiment that it would be a shame to let it loose now as a paddock truck - although we did this to similar trucks on the farm for years. And enjoyed it thoroughly - as would your kids. I guess there's bashing and then there's bashing....

However, given how little you will likely get for it pre-restoration, unless you are desperate for the cash or space I would be inclined to keep it. Good ones are scarce and the values are creeping up globally.

    Cheers,

    Neil

    Welcome to the forum.

From what I can make out from the photos, it'd have to be one of the nicest un-restored 88"s I've seen.

Fix it up and drive it to town

Mine's Leyland but the only indication of this is near the compliance plate under the bonnet

    That's a cracker.

We have stripes but not sure if it was an original thing.

Many thanks for all your posts

Appreciate all the input. I guess because its been sitting in a shed (with the rear part acting as a very good rubbish bin...) I hadn't really thought much about its value. The farm is on the mid north coast of NSW, altho I live in Sydney half the time. I'll take some more pics when next there - incl the compliance plate. I agree the roof definitely seems to be a later addition. Its just painted in a grey primer. As I said I'm fairly tall and I found it hard to drive with the big steering wheel and no adjustment on the seat. But when I did drive it years back, it basically went straight up the steepest hills - quite amazing.

+1 more- also possibly interested if you want to let it go

Maybe the stripes were added in the 80's to "modernise" it when the County was being sold with a stripe..?

I had one with the Leyland badges and others from the same era without so not sure exactly when they were fitted.

I well remember MG owners pulling all the BL badges off their cars out of embarrassment. Maybe LR owners were sensitive too.
