Thanks mate. I've been having a lot of fun with the rebuild. Friends of mine never thought it'd get this far without calling in a professional for help.

Thankfully the forum here and various manuels/books/magazines/youtubes and Google have been invaluable.

Taking it all apart was the easy bit. I put tge kids to work clearing all the clay from the chassis. I've had the engine turn over and run for a few min so far. New loom to install and muffler and I'll fire it up and let it idle for a good half hour or so.

The leaf springs were all removed. Taken apart. Sanded back to bare metal. Galved and put back together. That was fun.....

The next big thing is the front hanger. Snapped and rusted out. I have a replacement to weld on which is gong to test my horrible welding skills. I may end up seeking a pro fir this job.

Anyways. A few more of it going back together

The shopping trip resulted in lots of spare parts

    Replacement gearbox.... just in case

Driver and passenger seats ( yes i know the bottom part of the seat is not in the photo. It's being given a wipe down by the kids)

    Dash top and bottom

Lots of gaskets and bits and pieces that would not be interesting enough for photos

That S3 is interesting - I thought all lwb S3s in Australia at least had deluxe bonnets, although I am aware that the standard bonnet remained an option.

Not completely sure. This is an odd one. Ive never seen an s3 with 3 fuel tanks before either

Neither have I! The extra tanks are almost certainly after market.
