After doing a snow trip the other weekend and the S III coming home on a flatbed due to ignition issues , 2 things other than that happened
The front RH low beam headlight blew and the park lights worked ok for a few minutes , then they dropped out too
Checked the 4 fuses on the steering column and they all seem ok
Any ideas
The indicator switch has a thing, whereby on right turn , it can make the headlights drop out for a second or 2 unless jiggled

SubscriberHeadlight switch sounds U/S. like most Pommy cars, all the headlight load is switched though them. I'd stick some relays in at the same time - traxide do a headlight upgrade kit that would fit a series 3 if you're unsure of how to make that all work. It will save your next switch and give you brighter lights too.

If the tail lights don't work either, as suggested, it is the switch, otherwise, if the tail lights still come on, it is a wiring fault, most likely the earth for the parking lights.

It could also be the toggle switch on the dash. While it sounds like you have an issue with the stalk it could be both. If the tail lights work its not the switch, so could be as JD suggests the earth for the front lights. Usually this is on the radiator support underside near the bonnet catch.
If stalk is problem replace with new and fit relays in the circuits to bypass the load away from the switch contacts.
