Got one of these on my S3 but it does require a bit of plumbing to go with it.

I'm finding the series III cabin room in the stage 1 is at a premium. In particular the space between the steering wheel and seat seems to be in conflict with my robust proportions....I've also found that the steering is not as heavy as anticipated so I'm contemplating downsizing the wheel while redoing the trim. Does anyone happen to know if any other Land Rover steering wheels will fit the series 3 spline? A 90/110, or county / defender perhaps?
Thanks
Rob.

Exmoor Trim do replacement steering wheels for Series and Defenders.
Thanks guys, I've had a look at the exmoor site, some other interesting options there too. Seat trim, carpets, cubby box... sky is the limit!
I suppose if a 110 or county wheel did fit it would be hard to find one in decent condition. .. but I'd like to use a Land Rover wheel (with logo) if possible. The spline boss seems to be the 'key'.
Cheers, Rob.

I don't think there are any other Landrover wheels that fit the same spline. It is possible that the same was used on other contemporary English cars (the steering box is bought in), but I don't know of any that are interchangeable.

Hi Rob.
I have a smaller steering that was fitted to my S3.
Will dig it out and take some pics.
Yours, if it suits what you want.
Will need some repairs.

Went and took some pics. STD LR wheel 430mm
Wheel held to Boss with 6 Allan Key bolts, so new wheel could be fitted.
SAAS is available through Supercheap.
Also Just wheels available New, S/H on gumtree
88L or 38L on Boss.
if you're going with a smaller wheel you'll need bigger arms![]()
Thanks mate, that boss description might help. I appreciate you taking the trouble. I was hoping to put in something newish and from another Land Rover but maybe a badge on the center will do. Or maybe replace the boss in a deefer wheel?... but it's probably one piece, I'm not that confident on my machining skills!
Thanks again. Rob.

Yep, that was my understanding too.
However I have been surprised by how manageable it is. Much easier than my '78 series III. Maybe the box is less worn, or the relay, or the setup is somehow different. Maybe the fat tyres? I remember years ago a commodore I owned became a lot more sensitive in the steering when I bought wide mags.
Mind you that won't help in a car park!
Time will tell. I'm tidying up all the original bits and putting them away for later, so I can always revert. In the mean while it will be nice not to crack my elbow on the window sill and to be able to breath out while turning!...
Cheers Rob.
