    Thread locker - v - thread sealant

I see both on sale at the usual suspects. Is there any difference between a low strength thread lock as opposed to a thread sealant? I am guessing there is as otherwise why call two things different names? Mmmmm.......
I am just after something to slap on the diff drain plug.
    cheers,
    D

Loctite 567 even stops the drips from the transfer case bolts.

Thread lockers often also double as thread sealants.

and none of which are to be confused with anti-seize paste which is awesome on wheel nuts.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I am pretty sure that thread sealant takes up much bigger clearances than thread locker and can withstand much more pressure.

Loctite 567 is a white paste which you apply to the threads and has an oblong nozzle. It is the ducks gutz for sealing plugs and any threads and AFAIK is approved for gas.

I use it on sump plugs, diff plugs, bolts that go into oilways etc . I do not use it to lock nuts and my experience is that it does not in fact lock plugs in place to any degree, and they are pretty easy to remove.
    Horses for courses.
    Regards Philip A
