Did you mark the flanges when you took it off? Great habit to get into.
I've noticed a strange 'rumbling' sound which appears to be coming from the rear of my series three 109. I don't think it's the bearings as I only replaced them about 3-4000km ago (if that). Could it be something to do with the actual differential or the drive shaft. I recently changed the clutch etc and removed the drive shaft to do so. Could this have caused an issue if I didn't put it back on properly?

Thanks. That's one thing I forgot to do. Would this make a difference? And how would I rectify it, remove and replace the drive shaft with trial and error until it's right?
Check the handbrake mechanism and drum.
