I found her sitting in a tip - hasn't run for about 20 years - but we do know her provenance.
She was purchased in 1972/3 by the Wrights at Murrulla - north of Scone NSW and was used around their substantial property for years until sold to my mother-in-law in the 1980s.
Dubbed affectionately "Dolly Daydream" she became the general work vehicle and sometime daily driver on a beef cattle property.
After some years she was superseded and became the project car of a keen 16year old in the same area north of Scone. When he grew up and moved, Dolly was left out in the weather along with a collection of broken motorcycles, rusting steel and discarded furniture. As far as we know - there was nothing terminal wrong with her then.
Petrol smells horrible - oil thick and plentiful. Tyres flat and perished - but held air long enough for me to drag her out of the tip. She is now in a shed, on axle stands and I am wondering whether rescuing her was a good idea!
I am a rank amateur mechanic, but I do recognise a spanner most of the time and my 86yo mother in law would like to get behind the wheel again, so my objective is to clean her up and get her running.
