Has anybody had the pleasure of owning or operating one of these?

IIRC there were a small number of those built for the Sydney Royal Easter Show. They were used in the main arena.

Think the Old Man drove something similar, when he worked as a driver in the late 60/70 on the Electricity Board in Cornwall. UK.
Sent him the image and write up.
    See what he says.

Nope,, but if I can get flush enough with cash and time, I might be tempted to buy a Ute and make a trailer 👍
I did try and convince SWMBO to let me buy a Ute last year which would have made an excellent starting point. 😢

    Old Mans Reply,

'Yes the Land Rover pole artic was similar to that. A rail above the cab and a rail at the back to carry the electric poles. A winch at the front under the front rail to pull the poles on and also winches either side of the front rail worked by hand to tie the poles on. The winch to pull the poles on to the Rover was then used to secure the poles to the back rail. As the poles were well over the front of the Rover you had to be careful turning corners that you did not hit a wall or high sided van, or a truck. I had a brand one after a while on the old one'

Finally had a chance to look at your link on the computer. What a fantastic series of photographs, thank you so much for that.
