Coil v Leaf
I’d suspect they would be different although probably wouldn’t matter if a leaf sprung car.
Defender is pin to eye as standard, what is standard on S3?

						Hi there,
does anyone know if defender shocks fit the rear of a lwb series 3? (I need shocks 2 inches longer than stock for a series 3 lwb and was wondering if I could use defender)
Thanks

Series SWB definitely not - they are eye to eye both front and back. LWB the rear, if you need two inches longer is similar, but I have an idea I have been there with my military 109, and found they are not suitable, being even longer than the two inches needed, but that was a long time ago, so my memory may be off.

Try giving W & W Shock Absorbers 33 Matherson St Virginia Qld a call (07) 32652133 & have a talk to Craig. They are old school Shock Absorbers repairers . Craig & his sons are Rover & Land Rover enthusiast. Craig has a good knowledge on Shocks . I am sure he will advise what shocks will fit our vehicle.
I am not sure if they are still working at the moment though due to the shut downs.
I've read that they fit if you need/want the length. How the damping works out who knows? I've read in numerous places that shocks aren't important on series landies as the leaves are doing most of the damping. Bs, I lost/popped the lower washers on my rear shocks as the holes were too big, resulting in the shocks freeing themselves and dangling loose. Every decent bump off road had the back end of the truck flying up in the air and pogoing badly.
I have military length rear shocks on my 109, and homemade mil length shackles. When I checked a few months ago it looked like i get nowhere near full compression of the shocks, so I'm planning to go to the defender shocks. I'll check the lengths again before ordering. To be honest I get pretty good travel at the rear as it is, it's the front that's poor. To make use of the extra shock length may need to get the springs re arched.
I have 88" rear shocks on the front of my 109, I'd be interested to hear of other eye/eye options slightly longer, I don't quite use all the up travel, and would probably benefit from sacrificing a bit of up travel for down travel.
