Thread: Body Restorers in Eastern Vic?

Restoring a S3 and sent the body off to a mate's mate to do the body. Most panels need filling / straightening, some light rust in the firewall and a total respray needed.

Waited 2.5 years and finally recovered the vehicle with minimal work done - bonnet and doors filled and primed only.

So now I am looking for someone who can do a full body restoration. I'm not looking to show the car, just bring it back to street-worthy state.

Can anyone recommend someone who can do a good quality body restoration, preferably on the Eastern side of Melbourne?

Unfortunately I don't know of anyone that specialises in painting older Land Rovers.
I've seen some horrible things done by modern panels shops like almost sanding the heads off rivets. I have a Series III bonnet that someone has worked on and I ended up replacing every pop-rivet. I looked at a Series III LWB in Country Vic that had been 'professionally' painted and it looked great from a distance until you realised that some of the rivets weren't showing and spot welds had been filled.

You'll need to find someone who works on older vehicles and understands Land Rovers. I don't think Fred Smith does painting but he might know someone.
