On consideration I can think of why there might be no switch there.

Mine was almost never used (I suppose most people rarely use them). About six or seven years ago I I did have occasion to use them - and when I switched it, the switch disintegrated, leaving me without blinkers. I got a new one and fitted it, and before I had even used it, the indicator window fell out. The supplier kindly replaced it free of charge.

Then last month I took my trailer into town for a pink slip - the mechanic said to put the hazard lights on so he could see both blinkers at once - and the switch refused to budge. Having had one disintegrate when I switched it, I was reluctant to try too hard. Since the County is due for a pink slip this month, and the mechanic will undoubtedly get me to show him that they now work, I have now got and fitted the fourth switch in the vehicle.

Not a bad record for a switch that probabbly only gets used about once every five years!

yes I have had to epoxy up that switch 'frame', it is rather a fragile bit of kit. The only switch I use occasionally on there is the interior light.

It got through the rigid NZ entry inspection roadworthy and has subsequently passed every Warrant of Fitness(6 monthly roadworthy BS we have here).....so I am guessing it predates the requirement for hazards here.
