Same reason one was fitted to the S1 in my sig,about 45 yrs ago.

And also the speedo needle wanders around a lot.

Now there is also an old Garmin street finder fitted above the dash,which helps with speed as well.
We modified the cig lighter plug to two plugs that plug into the LR sockets on the dash.

It is actually the very first model Garmin street finder that appeared on the market,i used it for many years in my work van.

Reminds me of a trip our mechanic did from Roma to Brisbane in a company 2a, must have been in '64. In those days the Tollbar hill was only one lane all the way.

In view of the condition he knew the brakes were in, he drove all the way down in first/low range. And reckoned that by the time he got to the bottom, and found somewhere to pull over, the traffic behind him was backed up all the way back through Toowoomba. (I believe it was traded on a Landcruiser not long after!)
