Hello from Brisbane.
Asking this question from the viewpoint of a mechanical ignoramus.
I am fitting twin fuel tanks to my Series 3 88” 2.25 litre petrol which is also being fitted with a new Weber carburettor to replace the original Zenith. We had a 6 cylinder 109” truck on the farm back in the 70’s which also had twin tanks and an electric fuel pump with dual chambers servicing each tank.
I have an option on a similar SU pump from a Jaguar but note from the model specifications (AZX1405en) that the pump is rated at 2.7 psi and 30 gph. I seem to recall reading somewhere that the carburettors on the four cylinder engine are best served at fuel pressures between 4 and 7 psi.
Should I be concluding that the pump in question is not suited to the application?
If I go for an alternative involving two Facet pumps is there any particular optimum mounting position for effective operation?
Cheers,
Neil
