Thread: Door seals for 1978 series 3 wagon

This may have been a previous topic, but , i need to replace the door seals on the series 3, the " genuine " ones are in 6 or 7 pieces and cost around $250 a set ! i have been told that the Defender seals work really well and only cost around $50 set and are 1 piece, BUT you have to remove about 2-3 mill from the lip on the door surround.My question is, has anyone out there installed the Defender seal on a series 3 and what is the process. Please.

I did all of mine with Defender style rubbers.
I also did the tail gate rubbers also.
Yes you need to grind the lip off.
I got mine by the meter from a plastic and rubber supplier.
