    Heater Rod Flaps Lower Dash

    Hi all.

Can anyone fill me in on how the heater control cable attaches to the heater rod in the lower dash? Can’t find anything online or any diagrams :/

    Hello from Brisbane.

I was hoping to be able to give you a clever answer by looking at the pile of parts that is my long disassembled dashboard. However, I’ve long forgotten how it came apart and have little more to show for it in my case than what you had in your YouTube clip.

However, I can offer one small clue - on my part there still was a cable going through the panel shown in the clip but it doesn’t go through the “obvious” hole that you are pointing at. Rather it passes through a smaller hole just near the larger vent hose hole. This small hole sits about squarely above the drivers side flap and I suspect the cable will be attached to the left hand side of the flap.

One end of the cable will go behind the instrument binnacle to the air control lever on the right hand end of the dash. I’m assuming that the other will attach to the vent flap (above) with some missing clip that will be lying around the glory box of parts that contain the rest of the dash fittings.

Sorry to be of less help than hoped but it may be a start. I’m going to have work it out myself too - so, it’ll be a useful journey of discovery.

    Cheers,

    Neil

I had mine apart a week ago , but it is now back together.

There was a brass bit at the end of the cable that attached to the flap , i couldn't see a screw to undo it so I left it alone and did what I needed with cable still attached . the brass bit must go through the hole in the flap.

I will have a look on the spare dash bottom bit out the back and see if I can take a photo of where the cable attaches .
