Hi all, just had my series 3 to bits to clean and paint the chassis and renew any parts needed, including new clutch plate, valve grind etc. And have a part left over. It is like a grub screw with a slotted head and and an offset base, about 7/16 thread. It was an external fitting, as it has dry grease or oil on it.
I wonder where it came from, as an external examination does not provide any clues?

Could be the locating screw for the gearstick where it pivots in the housing attached to the top of the gearbox. Item 5 in the attached pic. Note that the image is from the Series 11A parts manual but the SIII item is similar.

Hi, this is the screw I can't identify. when I removed it, I thought it would be retained in my memory bank, but no, it is blank!
It is a 109 flat tray series 3, 2.6 engine . Stripped the body and cleaned and painted the chassis. I had the engine out, the gearbox and transmission apart and out, and fitted a heap of new parts and reassembled, filled with oils and run, no leaks (yet)
The part has a screwdriver slot, two lobes to take a spanner. Underneath is clean and black painted.
got me tossed...
Perfect.
End Bit missing.
